This was the first vignette I wrote for ETEC 532 on the humanizing effects of story-telling and art. One of my three goals in the MET program centred around collaboration, something that was extremely important to me and was an integral part of not only the metaphor for this portfolio, but also for the professional development of my own pedagogy. In my reflection, I will focus on the unique collaborative editing experience I had with this artifact in particular.
The Vignette
Empathy is a vital soft skill educators can employ to prevent students from viewing and talking about a certain art piece as a ‘means to an end’ for a school project. Friedman (n.d.) urges us to ask, “Where does it come from? Why is it here? How have we internalized it and where do we go from there?” |
