On your left (or above, if viewing on a mobile device) is a recent 'family photo' of all the plants I have adopted and to the best of my ability, nurtured and grown. I can now name a few houseplants by appearance, identify learning frameworks that shape my own personal learning theory, be cognizant of the different light and watering needs of a handful of plants, and design constructivist learning environments grounded in both theory and practical experiences.
This e-Portfolio showcases the best of my two years in the MET program. The process of creating this portfolio has been both personal and collaborative. During this time, I enjoy looking back on my early assignments and being brutally honest with myself about their strengths and shortcomings. As I grouped artifacts together to flesh out my metaphor, this reflective process allowed me to make deeper connections between the different courses, and how they relate back to my educational philosophy and personal goals. Being in this program has not only increased my knowledge and awareness of technology and its applications, but also made me more aware of my own biases, and misconceptions, bringing new understanding of how we learn. Being a classroom teacher is often fast-paced and jam-packed. I appreciate the time I spent in these spaces where I get to discuss with peers outside of work on these topics in education.
At the end of this e-Portfolio process, I can say, I'm really proud of each piece of work I've put up in my little pocket of the internet here! Here is an overview once again of all my artifacts in relation to the goals I have set out at the start of the program. Some artifacts are repeated as they encapsulate more than one goal.
"ePortfolios shift the focus from the product itself; ‘instead [they] focus more on the thinking and planning processes that precedes the product’"
- Trent Batson, ePortfolios: Let Me Count the Ways
